Finding the right therapist can be challenging. For many people, the search is even harder when providers do not understand their cultural background, lived experiences, identity, or preferred language.
The Anti-Racist Mental Health Alliance of New Jersey (ARMHA-NJ) is conducting a community survey to better understand the barriers people face when seeking culturally responsive mental health care.

Why We're Asking
Mental health care is most effective when people feel seen, heard, respected, and understood. Unfortunately, many individuals struggle to find therapists who share their cultural understanding, speak their language, or recognize the unique experiences that shape their lives.
We want to learn more about these challenges directly from community members.
Your feedback will help us:
Identify barriers to accessing culturally responsive mental health care
Better understand community needs
Inform future advocacy, education, and resource development efforts
Support efforts to improve access to mental health services for diverse populations
Who Should Participate?
This survey is for anyone who has experienced difficulty finding a therapist who:
Understands their cultural background
Speaks their preferred language
Respects their identity and lived experiences
Provides culturally responsive mental health support
Whether your experience was recent or occurred years ago, your perspective is valuable.
